IEC Code

The Importer Exporter Code (IEC) is a unique 10-digit identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It is mandatory for any business or individual looking to engage in import or export activities in India. The IEC serves as a key business identification number and is essential for customs clearance, sending or receiving shipments, and availing export incentives. Obtaining an IEC involves submitting an online application along with necessary documents such as PAN card, bank account details, and proof of business address. Once issued, the IEC remains valid for the lifetime of the business and does not require any renewal.
